the pain and yearning and love and pain and tragedy and beauty and pain in this song😭😭 soooo Mark Knopfler wrote this song after he was dumped by his girlfriend (Holly Vincent), and then found out she was in the relationship only to further her own musical career … in an interview she gave, she downplayed their relationship and that’s where the line “Yeah, I used to have a scene with him” in the song comes from :(( ugh I want a movie ab this stat w this song in it
