i could go on and on about how much i love this song and the background behind it. the little “doot doot” part in the back is actually dave grohls gf (at the time) with guitar over it. he called her at 2 am and asked her to sing and he put the voicemail in the song and based the melody off of it. the whispers at the end used to be her talking abt the dream of them that she had right before he called but it was later changed to him whispering a love letter to her. i also think it’s so cool bc the lyrics are literally “she sang” and then it’s her singing in the background (listen to the background vocals if u can’t hear her). later in the song the lyrics are “when i sing along with you/ if everything could ever feel this real forever” which i think is so so cute ugh i’m crying i want to make a powerpoint abt the backgrounds and meanings of songs they are just so interesting 🤭🤭
