this album continued the sound from Monster, which makes sense since the wrote, played and recorded many of the songs during the Monster tour. for me personally at the time it was released, this sounded like a Mknster rehash. I was getting into other bands, like Wilco, so I started to start moving away from REM. however, over time this has become my third favorite album, just slightly behind Monster. lots of great tunes on this one but Leper has always stuck with me with that great first verse.
