Lenny gets a lot of hate for being “derivative” and borrowing a lot from the past but I don’t think it’s really fair to judge an artist solely on their originality. I really like his synthesis of funk, soul, and rock, and he’s an underrated songwriter. As time goes on, it gets harder to be completely innovative and unique. A large majority of artists wear their influences on their sleeve and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you’re not legitimately stealing
