What fascinates me right now about Pink Floyd, after being enthralled by them since the first time I listened (Young Lust and Comfortably Numb were my gateways👍), is their impact on popular music vs their impact on alternative music. They were the first band to seamlessly and impactfully blend the two in my opinion. Their lesser known works from the 60s are HIGHLY conceptual and experimental in nature, largely due to their eclectic band leader at the time, Syd Barrett. Barrett was kicked out of the band in 1968 due to concerns over his mental health and drug problems. His whereabouts only a few years after became a mystery… nobody knew what he was doing, no one even knew where he was. Nobody was truly aware of his whereabouts until 2006, when he passed away…
I wonder what Pink Floyd would have sounded like if Syd had never been removed? How did his departure change the bands trajectory? Would they have faded to obscurity? Would they still have became legends?

here is a song that I liked when I was a young lad. It is honestly still super super cool. I’m not normally into completely electronic based music now, but this one still stands the test of time for me. Super interesting sounds and a very unique flow to the song.

Vocals week day 5 !
I missed yesterday oops.
Today I want to highlight Lawrence. Lawrence has been one of my favorite bands for the past 5-6 years and they’ve aged like a fine wine over time. Gracie Lawrence is still my favorite female vocalist in music. When Gracie busts out the pipes and hits that note….. breath taking. Powerful, powerful voice.
Love her.
Not to mention, Clyde’s raspy and soulful voice amazes me too. When he’s feeling it, Clyde belts out the big notes with every ounce of soul in his body, always leaving me speechless.
Lawrence is unapologetically themselves, and their music is representative of this. Plus, Gracie and Clyde on the vocals (and keys) make Lawrence simply irresistible.
