21st of August ‘26 Took a hike around the Nøklevann lake with this on repeat in my head, then skinny dipped when I felt brave enough. When it all comes down to it I AM just a child of nature 🌬️🏞️!

This one was stuck in my head today, even though I had never listened to it. I mean, with my headphones on. They played this live at Best Kept Secret, forgot the lyrics to it, but I had no standards because I had never heard it before. I think I prefer it live with the lyric-less intermezzo. The studio version is also pretty good though :)
7th of August ‘26 Update: I made a ‘free the whimsy’ playlist because WHO needs more things to frown about these days —not me thank you! On my way to my parents I had to pee so I went into one of those one person train station bathrooms that have lots of space and did a little playback and dance to this song. Shout out to closed-off-from-the-rest-of-the-world-spaces like bathrooms, cars and karaoke studios, I love you. Also, did you know: a lot of songs turn into self-love songs when you envision the ‘you’ it’s directed to as yourself. That’s one of my favourite hacks.
tell her something tell her nothing tell her that you’re waiting … This song made me think of a line from a series I once heard: ‘The love we had in our past, unfinished, untested, lost love, seems so easy, so childish to those of us who choose to settle down. But, actually, it's the purest, most concentrated stuff.’ … It’s about unrequited love, how it stays fueled by always being in its pristine form. It’s easy to put someone on a pedestal that way, like they’re somehow superhuman beings with precious metals for organs and myths for souls. That can certainly make a person feel entangled in their thoughts. … in eyes, lost in confusion golden hearts, left all illusion is it my imagination? (post #34 out of 102 BH songs)
It’s the first of August 2026 and it’s been three years since I last posted on here. Lovely @loisdepois and me were virtually catching up and doing a movie night when she reminded me of Bopdrop, which plays a big part in the origin story of our friendship, actually. Lucky me in this weird little universe with its weird little ripple effects! But three years, oof. What song do I break that silence with? I dove back into my monthly archives —thank god for those— and went back to the August 2023 playlist. This was the first song on there. Big gem, I love it a lot. Maybe I’ll get back into this music journalling again, pour some songs and thoughts into the internet void. 🌬️◼️
20th of August ‘26 My muscles are sore from walking around all day in Oslo yesterday but it’s that right kind of soreness and you bet I will be doing the exact same thing again today! The other day my roommate asked me about me arriving here: ‘How does it smell?’ ‘It smells very clear’ I answered. I’ve been exploring the botanical garden, some museums, the streets and parks, I nerded out at a cafe where a scene of The Worst Person In The World was filmed, learned some Norwegian words, let the sun kiss my face and hid from the rain. When I was fleeing from a rain shower I stumbled into a place where this sculpture was exhibited, which led into an antifa shop. One of the people there gave me a flyer to come to their show Saturday; their artist name is Bob Vylan, come up with something better, I dare you! I hope you enjoy my favourite pick from the Munch museum, it’s called ‘To barn på vei til eventyrskogen’ or ‘Two children on their way to the fairytale forest’ 🌬️🌲🏞️
Technically this is a Christmas song, but it’s playing in my head whenever I feel melancholic, so I had to share. Also, thanks to this song I revisited Julia Jacklin’s music, fell in love with everything she’s made and now consider her as one of my favourite artists. So thank you to this song <3
The Devotion album is so soft. It sounds like the dim candles that show on the album cover. I dreamt of my long lost grandpa last night, that’s the second time this week. We embraced each other, I felt so at peace. I chose this one for today because it sounds like the way dreams feel. That might also just be how the entire Beach House discography sounds, it’s called dream pop for a reason. Still, I love this one, it’s pretty unique compared to the rest. … By the dock of the pond Turtle Island I will wait for you there Creeping silently I can’t keep you right behind me (post #8 out of 102 BH songs)
I have less than four weeks to put together a portfolio and several other assignments for my film school application. I’m scared out of my mind that I won’t get through the very challenging selection process. … I want it all, but I can’t have it images fly by I cannot say much but I want it all … Now, I’ve had my fair share of romantic unrequited love, but never before have I experienced this academic unrequited love. The feeling is not that different though. It’s wanting something so passionately and so deeply, doing everything in your power to make your desires come true, and hoping desperately that someone out there will give you a chance. It’s fear, it’s hope, it’s love. … when she closes her eyes looks inside never knowing shooting for the stars (post #27 out of 102 BH songs)
This song mesmerises me. I love the long intro, the consistency of the melody, it just keeps moving, running, driving. A great car song I would say. I love the year it came out in. 2002. The only exciting thing about 2002 is that it’s a palindrome. I love the fact that it has a hidden segment of Don McLean’s ‘Vincent’ in it. I love the album cover. And man do I love the title. To all the melancholy people out there, enjoy.
Feeling like a sad little cat today. My favourite mug fell to the floor and is now chipped. I know that it’s the little things that can make you happy, but sometimes the little things can also RUIN your day. Maybe I shouldn’t let them… oh well. Enjoy this song :) ‘I’m okay, I’m just feeling a bit shit today’
If there’s one thing I love more than movies, it’s movie soundtracks. I watched this wonderfully weird film for the first time in February this year. I fell in love with it instantly, and I’ve been recommending it to anyone and everyone ever since. I just watched it again today. It’s so unique, so bizarre, but at the same time I found it extremely touching. It has a certain subtlety and tenderness to it that moves me so much. The characters say very little in dialogue, compared to how much is said with their reactions and interactions. I felt completely captivated by Kajillionaire; the entire time it made me feel like being on the verge of laughing and crying, simultaneously. This song from the soundtrack is the one I’ve replayed the most since my first watch, and every time I listen to it I relive the story again. That’s my favourite thing about film soundtracks. Here’s to my love for the fine arts, wether you experience them with your eyes, ears, or in the best way: with both.
