i feel like i should start my account by posting some of my favorite songs as like a baseline. Love Will Tear Us Apart is one of the most powerful songs i’ve ever heard, ian curtis sounds so tired and sad in his delivery and you can tell it’s absolutely not played up, that’s just where his head was at. it’s heart wrenching to hear the weakness in his voice considering this song was written so close to the date that he took his own life. the parallels between the lyrics of this song and the words of his suicide note are so eerie, the question “Why is my bedroom so cold?” is almost word for word what he wrote in the note. it’s truly a tragedy that he was lost so soon, and i think it is very fitting that the title of this song was written on his grave.
like a week ago i had a school concert late in the day, so i was by myself at my house a majority of the day waiting to go to the concert and i just psyched myself out sooo much spending time alone. when i finally got to the concert, when we were tuning up and waiting to go on, it was my first time around people all day and i was terrified for no reason. i basically just looked at the ground and didn’t talk to anyone and i felt like everyone was staring at me it was so awful idk why i was so freaked out. idk what that’s all about bc i don’t think i have social anxiety or anything, it’s just like when i’m around people but none of them are my friends i get so scared for no reason. i ended up sitting in a bathroom stall for like 45 minutes until it was time to go on
I have a big ass spanish presentation due tomorrow on Salvador Dalí and i just started it. I’m learning a lot tho like i knew he was weird but he was like WEIRD. Like his older brother was named Salvador and died at age 1, so when Dalí was born they named him Salvador and told him he was the literal reincarnation of his dead brother. Also, he was obsessed with insects and fantasized about his wife being covered in ants. He also had a theory that all of the greatest leaders in history were impotent (including himself). He was also super in to hitler and said in an interview that hitler turned him on. He was also obsessed with Freud and Freud was obsessed with him, but when they met together in person both people were like “you’re fucking crazy we’re never doing this again”.
I’m back! Tried to pick the song that best represented my trip to Florida and I more mean all of Punisher. Everybody already knows Pheebs so i’m not really putting anyone on here but i listened to this album when i walked my grandma’s dog at like 6 in the morning and it was still dark out and the sky was like dark blue, and i also listened to this song in the hot tub with my sister. Disney and the nice hotel was fun but by far the best part of the trip was spending so much time with my sister, this was the first time we really got to talk a lot without my parents around since i was like 10. it was really cool being able to hear about her time in highschool and college and being able to tell her stories about highschool and be able to talk about shit that we can’t say in front of mom and dad, kinda took some pressure off of me about trying to appease my parents and also inspired me to have as much fun in highschool as my sister did.

i like this song but it’s not part of my baseline favorite songs ever posts. today feels like a filler episode so it doesn’t deserve a favorite song ever post.
It was warmer today (45° out instead of like 5°) which was nice. I decided to go out and shoot some film but the light meter on my camera is broken so all the shots were probably way overexposed :(
In other news i’m leaving for florida tomorrow!!! excited to enjoy some good weather and spend time with my sister. also a lil intimidated by taking a plane by myself for the first time, i downloaded a ton of albums for the trip tho!!!!
imo archie marshall is one of, if not THE most talented artist of our generation. this song illustrates everything i love about king krule, his pained, deep, soulful voice is just soooo f*cking good on this track, and that combined with the most jazzy saxophone i’ve ever heard OH MY GOD. This song is a masterpiece through and through. The lyrics on this song are great too, in my mind it’s Archie being defensive after rejection, saying that he hates this girl and how he’s so much better than everyone else is an overcompensation of the true self consciousness he really feels. i think everyone feels trapped in a lizard state a lot, and i think that’s the perfect word for it, you feel like a creepy weird outsider when you get rejected, but you wanna cover up that feeling with anger, when deep down you really do care for that speacial person that may not care for you back.
Ok here’s my third installation of my base line favorite songs ever! Stella was a diver and she was always down blew my mind as soon as i heard it, a coworker had recommended the album to me and it changed my life frfr. The music itself is amazing idk how to describe it but just the whole vibe and collection of the guitar and the distant vocals and the dejected tone resonates with me so deep. The subject matter of the song, although i don’t relate super heavily to it, is amazing too. He’s so in love with Stella but he feels gross and unworthy because she’s constantly on heroin. He believes that if Stella was sober she wouldn’t get with a guy like him and the only reason she’s with him is because she’s given up on life. That’s SUCH a heart wrenching situation and it’s so incredibly delivered on the song. I love this song to death for the song itself, and the memories i have with it, check this album out if you haven’t already.
One of my favorite albums all the shits on this album hit so hard and it’s one of my only like top of all time albums that’s not super sad. Most of my top of all time albums are sad and horny (like twin fantasy and turn on the bright lights) but this one is just angry and socialist.
Today i didn’t do much, i keep taking naps after school on accident and it wastes like half my day i hate naps bro. Yesterday i finished all the evangelion episodes but i still have to watch all the movies and i always put off watching movies bc it’s such a time commitment. Think imma watch cowboy bebop next, either that or euphoria
