One of the most cherished memories I have with my father was seeing Kamasi Washington live, he cried half way through the set and we met him getting ice cream from an ice cream truck. He brought his father out to play trombone, had two drummers playing at the same time and the best standup bassist I’ve every heard play, Miles Mosley. One of the best live performers currently.

Listened to this album today and it was an undeniably positive experience. It’s like Since I Left You by the Avalanches but with a heavier hip hop influence and you can see his connection to the music and his input on every detail. It’s refreshing to have an album with nothing but short and sweet songs rather than over cultivated albums that are difficult to pace through even at 40 minutes.
