just saw this song live hehe <3 anyways, i love how sonically this song is a relaxing ballad that uses orchestration to perfectly encapsulate the feeling of loneliness and yearning for ones person of interest to return back to them, or at least reciprocate their feelings once again. i also love how this song alludes to the beach boys track kokomo, although ironically, that song details a romantic romp between two lovers on a beach in an attempt to escape from stress and pressure. jbrekkie shows a contrast between her own song and the interpolation, as the track in question focuses on a place to escape from, while the beach boys song focuses on a place to escape to i especially love the third verse and the clashing of reminiscing over what once was while feeling empty, all while simultaneously acknowledging that other people are not meant to be kept by one person and should be let go of
