The intro that is unique to this version, and the amazing outro solo is what makes this song great, to me.
Detroit, Detroit. Got a hell of a hockey team! Paul Simon is my favorite songwriter, and makes me think of my childhood. This song is such a forgotten tune, and it’s a damn shame!
Love listening to SRV on my walks to class, especially his Hendrix covers. On the downside, his guitar playing makes me realize how bad I am at guitar😭
Been on a Paul kick lately
Born and Raised is one of my favorite albums ever, and a departure for Mayer from his usual sound up to that point. I love this album so much, and this is one of my favorite tracks. The harmonica solo at ~4:00 is *chef’s kiss* delightful! The short guitar licks as complements to the melody throughout the songs are beautiful too. This song is a deep confessional about alcoholism, but gladly John is sober too. Here are some lyrics that I love: Every night around this time My friends and I retreated like a race When I really start to break it down I wouldn't trust a girl who knew about this place Barkin' on with no one left Speak softly underneath my breath "Hey world, you ain't seen nothin' left" Great, now it's rainin' Here’s a funny tik tok about the song to lighten the mood: https://vm.tiktok.com/TTPdUA513Q/?k=1
