it was always really hard expressing the chaos and confusion in my life unless it was violently loud. i’d turn my amp to 10, make my ears bleed with my headphones, and do anything to drown out any outside noise and replace it with my own, no matter how mindless and frenzied it got. i should’ve loved it because it was purely Me…the sound was just an extension of my feelings. but i hated it because i hated myself. it wasn’t until i got into Scott Cortez’s work that i realized how delicate the noise i create really is. his ability to form emphatic walls of noise with a screeching guitar and spin it into an ethereal lullaby was awe-inspiring and forever changed how i appreciated sound and the emotions that inspire it. i still hold rage within this built-up passion, but it’s a lot more controlled. being more in-tune with myself also helps. nowadays i’m no longer screaming at myself and instead screaming at the void, which gives me peace of mind and more space to create with. #mysoundtrack
