aside from the fun to be had, one of the best things about summer are the in-season fruits and veg — peaches, various berries, melons, zucchini, squash, and most importantly TOMATOES. my favorite way to utilize fresh maters is a tomato sandwich, a southern delicacy. basic white bread, slathered in tangy dukes mayo. perfectly ripe tomatoes, sliced and seasoned heavily with salt and fresh cracked black pepper, come together to form a sandwich that transports me back to my childhood. I needed something a bit more satiating today, so I went with a BLT on sourdough. a tomato sandwich will be had this weekend though, bet that.
