Band on the rise, Friko deliver a hopeful and bright piece, featuring that classic indie rock charisma and backed by an expansive instrumentation that brings the album to life. One of the more consistent records of the year, Something Worth Waiting For doesn’t drop the bar once throughout its near hour runtime. Each track is an alluring moment, the vocals are passionate and the instruments are noisy, but it’s still based in this lush and mellow ambience. There’s moments of catchy melodies and choruses amongst the instances of chaos, and some really nice arrangements of piano and bass. The second half of the album picks up even more however, as we drift more into this epic atmosphere that’s been slowly building. The last five songs are just amazing song after amazing song, the level of songwriting is top notch and the cadence is something that reminded me of some of the Beatles songs, Paul McCartney must’ve pioneered a great influence in their work.
