1. Purity Ring- purity ring My favorite album of 2025 was easily Purity Ring’s latest self-titled album. I already mentioned that I had two albums featuring the y2k deconstructed club sound that took over last year and this is the other album. Purity Ring has always been about glitchy dream pop and these new more drum and bass influenced elements are a perfect marriage to their sound. Like the other deconstructed club album, purity ring is also a concept album, serving as the soundtrack to a nonexistent RPG. Influenced by Final Fantasy X and Xenoblade Chronicles, it explores themes of love, permanence, and breaking a cycle. It is about wanting to remain in a spot in your life that you know you can never return to. It is fitting that this is their self-titled release as it is truly the culmination of everything great about the dream pop duo.
