You ever think about random ass interactions you had in the past… When I was in Alaska this summer I was stressed in a Walmart checkout line with two shopping carts full of food in preparation for our backpacking trip, and a calm man walked into line behind us with only a few items. He introduced himself as the chief of a local Native American tribe and politely asked if he could pass us in line because he would be much quicker. My co and I said sure and we chatted a bit, but it was clear to him that we were very stressed and tired. After he finished at the register he said “enjoy your trip, and your time in Alaska”… a very simple statement that resonated with me. I wish we had chatted more with him, but I certainly won’t forget him, even if my co and I really just wanted some peace and quiet in the moment. Subtle reminders to enjoy where I am at are invaluable to me…You can’t be anywhere else then where you are, and that’s a beautiful thing. Thank you chief 🦧
