so the other day i went to new york to check out the Ian Curtis exhibit at a small gallery and it was so awesome but so eerie.. do you ever think some people know they’re gonna die a long while before they really do?? cause i definitely got the feeling looking at so much of his lyric sheets/letters it feels odd that he was only 23 when he died because in every photo i see of him i can only see (at least) several decades worth of life and exhaustion behind his eyes like this isn’t his first time on earth or if it was his spirit knew it was only to serve one purpose n then dip out,,, i fs hope to learn more about both Joy Division and New Order this year as they both have songs that have already gotten me through such significant things

i feel like i should start my account by posting some of my favorite songs as like a baseline. Love Will Tear Us Apart is one of the most powerful songs i’ve ever heard, ian curtis sounds so tired and sad in his delivery and you can tell it’s absolutely not played up, that’s just where his head was at. it’s heart wrenching to hear the weakness in his voice considering this song was written so close to the date that he took his own life. the parallels between the lyrics of this song and the words of his suicide note are so eerie, the question “Why is my bedroom so cold?” is almost word for word what he wrote in the note. it’s truly a tragedy that he was lost so soon, and i think it is very fitting that the title of this song was written on his grave.
