today I listened to 5 Seconds of Summer by 5 Seconds of Summer. I have been in a 5SOS era lately but despite that I had never actually listened to their first album I’m full as I’m more of a fan of the more recent music. I never really went through a 5SOS phase in 2014/15 when this album came out so these songs don’t really have that nostalgia factor. I think that this album really benefits from nostalgia in some ways. Lyrically you can tell some of these songs were written by teenage boys (feels similar to early JoBros) however many of these are truly masterpieces. For a teenage boy band pop rock album in 2014 this album accomplishes everything that it needs to. Final thought there were song songs I for real thought were on this album and was fascinated to learn they are very much in fact not. 3.75/5
