recently had a conversation with my best friend about Afrobeat artist’s pipeline towards rnb, catering to a western audience and ayra was brought up. I love ayra so bad but im so annoyed she’s going the rnb route, it doesn’t feel as genuine. I think a good example of an artist who did this well and it made sense was odeal. I think it’s beautiful to explore and figure out your style as an artist but I think vocally and artistically , she fits more pop/afro-beats. even a Latin/Caribbean style fits her more. I felt a lot more connected and understood her identity as a artist back then. this song probably one of the last songs of hers that I felt that way about. all the love is pretty close..anyways I’m just rambling
