When a life ends in such a brutal, public way, regardless of political stance, it should shake us to the core not met with resigned acceptance or indifference. This is about our humanity, & the lines we cross even when we despise one another’s beliefs. Normalizing the idea that “he had hateful views, so he deserved it” we lose something essential in ourselves. When did we become a society that see everything and feel nothing? Are we not capable of rejecting hate without embracing violence?
