here’s my late submission to #adamalbumspiritday sorry guys but i’ve loved seeing all your submissions omg not really sure what to say about TH or this album/film because i could drone on for ages,,, what i’ll try to summarize and put on display is that david byrne is one of the most important creatives ive ever felt personally connected to and he understands My way of being human and not a lot of people do (because we’re apart of a special club that is so awesome until it’s not and when it’s not you really need to have someone who understands what that feels like and how to get out of that feeling),,, when im spinning out this album puts me back into my body and my mind and feels so illuminating and energizing like i can sink into it and it’ll give me a push forward

I genuinely tried to participate in #adamalbumspiritday but everything that came out was essentially “this is music and I like it because it sounds good”
#adamalbumspiritday age ain’t nothing but a number is one album i genuinely always will love aaliyah was so young when she made it, but it’s so good. she’s never doing too much & completely in control of her voice. and back & forth into age ain’t nothing but a number, down with the clique, and then at your best (you are love) is such a crazy good run. the production still sounds so good too. everything fits her voice perfectly, and the whole album has this distinct mood without every song sounding the same. if you’ve never listened to the whole thing, please do
#adamalbumspiritday For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver is my favourite album of all time This album is devastatingly beautiful. It’s like a warm hug while also being so devastating at the same time. no words I say about it can do it any justice if I ever get a music related tattoo, it’ll probably be related to this album. or Noah kahan anyway, I love the backstory to this album too. in 2006 Justin Vernon was going through a really bad breakup and his music career was not going well AND he got severely ill for a bit so after all that he fucked off to a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere and completely isolated himself for 6 months. he then used very minimal equipment and started to write and record this perfect album. i could go on but im gonna sleep cheers
Melt by Not For Radio Marias voice is so angelic and raw. Anytime I listen to Not For Radio Or The Maria’s, it feels like shes giving her emotions shape with just the way her voice sounds. and then theres the background instrumentals. the background instrumentals are just so dreamlike, such a dreamy soundscape. I can hear her pour her soul out into these songs. Makes me feel less alone in feeling my feelings. n e way, this album is for #adamalbumspiritday ty, adam this was fun, hi
#AdamAlbumSpiritDay Me using another prompt to post Lancey Foux, shock horror! Seriously though, life in hell is a genuine masterpiece to me, a beautifully produced album which will always be in my rotation. The energy throughout every single song is contagious, the emotions are so pure as well like great music should always make you feel something, you know? I still feel like he doesn’t get enough flowers as he should, the undisputed goat of the uk underground rap scene. A true trailblazer.
ryan beatty is just the truth to me like his pen is just different gravy and his voice is so angelic and the production is just so light and elegant i could listen to him aw day and calico is just a masterpiece and i recommend it for #adamalbumspiritday anyways bday has been good ty to all the birthday wishes went to this place called smokey trotters and tried haggis for the first time *insert spike lee gif* but the chicken tacos was nice so i would probaly go back, back to work tomorrow as a wise man once told me “we don’t stop, we never stop, we rest at lunch and we rest and celebrate at the end of the day”
Bones and All (2022) #adamalbumspiritday What Reznor and Ross did here is, to me, some of the best music I’ve heard. Despite the visceral horror, It’s poetic and gives you an everlasting longing exactly like the story of the film. The masterfully crafted acoustics lets you deeply visualise all its tenderness, intensity, and eeriness from start to finish. The combos of subgenres for this could only be done by these two in my (and Guadagnino’s) eyes I hardly ever shut up about it but what a fucking film. It really bites into you. The music just so happens to be even better and that’s why it is one of my favourite albums.
I only recently started listening to albums in full and still do it very rarely, so for the very special occasion of participating in the #adamalbumspiritday , I decided to listen to Have I Lost My Magic? by Swiss artist To Athena and offer my humble thoughts as a very inexperienced album reviewer. The album has twelve songs, four in Swiss German and the rest in English and to me it feels like we’re accompanying her through a process of introspection, slowly uncovering old fears and patterns and finding different ways to deal with them. It starts with the title track, Have I Lost My Magic?, where she seems to have lost herself trying to please everyone around her, “looking for myself in other people’s eyes” and trying to avoid disappointment. Ready feels like the first hopeful glimpse of change, where even allowing herself to be “the unreliable one” becomes something courageous. But that hope doesn’t suddenly make everything better. …
“equinox” has been an album ive been cherishing over these last couple weeks. a perfect summer, easy listening album with a lot of bossa nova classics. 25 minutes of pure heat. mendes got the piano on lock and lani hall/janis hansen are such talented vocalists too. would recommend while listening on a walk and the sun beaming down #adamalbumspiritday !!!!
erm… #adamalbumspiritday This record plays on what seems to be three different lanes, it starts off with this hypnotic and somber tone, the ambience is peaceful and the vocals are delicate, but this eerie feeling lurks behind this mist you’re shrouded in. It’s almost like a siren’s song lulling you in, you can’t help but feel at ease in it’s arms but you can sense the darkness behind it, the instrumentals play on this disguise, as behind this curtain of peaceful neo-psychedelia ambience, lays the foundations of this post-rock indietronica that is soon to burst through. When that curtain is pulled we are moved into this next lane of chaos and uncertainty, this dreamlike atmosphere has been replaced by heavy hitting and intense instrumentals, there’s no respite, the fantasy has turned into a nightmare.
