TOP 30 R&B ALBUMS OF ALL TIME: 26. 112 - 112 ('96) There's a lost art in the execution of a solid R&B boy band/girl group. They've been around since forever but picked up steam in the late 80s/early 90s. You couldn't turn your head without seeing one to the point where their sounds, art, aesthetic began to blend into each other. I mention this because through all of it there was a group above the rest: 112. Similar to notable groups like the aforementioned Destiny's Children and Boyz II Men,they were able to differentiate themselves in a competitive climate. AND they can be credited with being the core factors in the blending of both hip hop and R&B. AND due to that, it changed the landscape of R&B's sound.. their footprint can still be heard today. AND they practically came out the door SWINGING with some of the most unforgettable ballads ever made. This is another one of these albums that if you can't claim to be a fan of R&B unless you've heard this project to its completion.
