All woman band Blackwater Holylight place their music within a range of genres throughout, showing off their capabilities as a band, the most consistent is the abrasive heavy instrumentations found commonly in doom and black metal, however the band also leans into that distorted shoegaze with sombre and warm vocals, which leaves you hypnotised as you follow the beat of the drums and the beautiful flow of the synth. The whole band presents itself as an oxymoron, the spectacle of life and death, I really liked the grand combination of the two worlds, as they throw you straight into the dastardly world of darkness, but get the brief moment to dance in and out of the beams of light striking through the thick clouds up above.
