i find myself in a body of water. it is so viscous: as i wade forward droplets cling to my skin. i am so focused on the resistance that i realise i no longer know which way i am going. desolate and lost. the water is forming, encasing. i am drowing. yet a clear film atop shimmers. the moon is waxing, presenting an answer. we accept this gift, and in return we share it with the night. cold is suddenly many, is one. i am becoming. there was never a shore, only the waves.
