Spent a couple hours yesterday with my Grandad in his new apartment. Went for a walk with him and showed him round (it’s a huge building). He’s 94 and is mentally well but just capable of little, so there’s a lot of help involved which adds a lot of stress to my parents’s life (and thus mine). Even though I don’t think we do or ever really had anything in common, shared the same views or currently have any cool convos, I really like him. In an “I’d get along with you” way if you were my age not in a feel sorry for or a sort of pitying way. But I have no idea why because there’s nothing similar about us. Any guesses?
