#mallonspiritweek - day 3 I think as part of my people pleaser personality I rarely don’t like music lol, especially in recent years it’s hard for me to listen to something and hate it because I think about how someone will like this or about the work put in, I stand by that no music is bad music (unless it’s inherently offensive or just stupid - I’m looking at you Jackman by Jack Harlow). However! in my young naive and stupid mind I used to haaateee any sort of metal, I hated the screaming and the abrasiveness of it all, but this year I’ve really come around to it, I think it’s because through me trying to listen to every new album and metal being such a core genre in highly rated releases, I’ve subjected myself to a lot of it and it’s clicked this year. i think some it can still be a bit jarring, but those long dissonant atmospheric metal tracks, they’re good. Deafheaven are one of my favs now as they play on so many different sounds and melodies, and their drummer is always insane
