MUNA’s members openly identify as queer, and guitarist/producer Naomi McPherson is nonbinary. The band’s music often touches on topics of sexuality and gender, and the band members also discuss their experiences with sexuality and gender on their podcast “Gayotic.” They have also won awards for their work uplifting the LGBTQ+ community through music. MUNA is an indie pop band that embraces the synth pop elements of the ‘80s and the lyricism and guitar sound of punk and riot grrrl. Their music is glittery, fun and perfect for a night out at the gay bar with all your LGBTQ+ and ally friends.
